After years of supporting Nepal through health and education initiatives, Home Loan Experts (HLE) was humbled to win the ‘Best Community Engagement’ category in the 2015 Australian Mortgage Awards (AMAs). The AMAs, now in its fourteenth year, are run by Australian Broker and recognise excellence in the mortgage broking industry. Our win in the community engagement category highlights HLE’s tireless efforts to operate ethically for the benefit of society, particularly the nation of Nepal which is one of the poorest nations on Earth. The award is also a testament to our focus on educating our customers on the ins and outs of home loans so they can make an informed financial decision.

Why did we win?

The AMA judging panel are key figures in the mortgage broking industry and the nominations are submitted by lender representatives and mortgage brokers. One of our missions as a company is ‘to operate ethically for the benefit of society’ and in Australia we do this by:

• Helping customers who are being let down by the banks.
• Providing free information and guides to our clients on buying a home and how bank policy works.
• Giving our staff a fulfilling job with the opportunity for career advancement.
• Helping young adults who are looking for work experience.

We believe that we need to give back to society and this feeds into the fourth part of our ethical strategy: providing ongoing support to offshore aid programs. With this, we can proudly say that our social initiative, HLE Cares, has truly been making a difference to the Nepalese community. Firstly, we have an office set up in Nepal and a team of dedicated administration and support staff. Our Nepalese staff have effectively been provided full time work with fair wages and the opportunity to undertake training, education and other professional development activities (provided by the company) to advance their career. Secondly, through HLE Cares, we aim to provide better educational and living conditions for local students. One of the ways we’re doing this is by sponsoring the education of children from Nepalese families that cannot afford it.

We were also named a finalist in three other categories!

Apart from our Best Community Engagement win, Home Loan Experts was also named a finalist in the following categories:

• Brokerage Of The Year (>6) – Independent.
• Broker Of The Year – Non Conforming.
• Best Customer Service From An Individual Office.

Despite missing out on the coveted Best Customer Service in the AMAs, we actually won ‘Best Customer Service – Office’ in the 2015 Better Business Awards earlier this year and have been named a finalist in 2016!

The Australian Mortgage Awards (AMA) recognises the most outstanding achievements in the mortgage industry across a range of categories including customer service to technology. The AMA judging panel itself is made up of well-known and respected figures in the broking industry.
