Hi KHATREE and welcome to the forum.

You can check out our mortgage discharge forms page for information on discharge forms as well as pdf uploads of the discharge forms of various banks and lenders all over Australia. You could find La Trobe’s discharge form in there.

You have to consider these before refinancing your home loan apart from the interest rates. You should check whether you’ll be better off with a new deal, and you should also reflect the time and the new lender with which you are refinancing with.

When you’re leaving a lender, they have very little incentive to process your discharge request quickly. In fact, the longer the discharge takes the more money they charge in interest!

Some lenders take 4 weeks to process a discharge but, luckily, most will only take 2 weeks. You should put in your discharge request at the same time as you put in the application for your new home loan. However, you should only do this if you’re confident that you’ll get approved for the new home loan.

Please feel free to check out our website for more information. Our specialist mortgage brokers can be reached on 1300 889 743 or simply fill in our online assessment form.

Hi KHATREE,

An experienced mortgage broker can help you do the following:
  • They will do all the shopping around for you and recommend the most suitable mortgage and submits your application on your behalf.
  • You will need to do is apply with the chosen lender.
  • Refinancing is the same as applying for a new loan so you’ll need to provide standard supporting documents such as your identification, bank statements and payslips/tax returns. Your broker will help you arrange all the required documents.
  • The broker will arrange the discharge form on your behalf and liaise with your current bank for processing the discharge.
  • Your new mortgage is used to pay off your old mortgage.
  • You start paying your new home loan – usually within a month of settlement.
Discover how we can help you refinance your mortgage by calling 300 889 743 or by completing our free assessment form today.
