Hi piledriver and welcome to the forum.

We have researched a lot and prepared a buyer’s guide for those people who want to invest in Australia. This is specifically to assist foreigners and expats to understand the home loan process here in Australia and should be considered as a guideline only.

It also includes info on expat mortgages and what you'll need to qualify for one.

Please note that you can also invest in a residential or commercial property as an investor. Thousands of Australians who have moved overseas continue to invest in the Australian property market because it’s familiar to them, stable and can generate great returns.

Please feel free to check out our website for more information. Our specialist mortgage brokers can be reached on 1300 889 743 (+61 2 9194 1700 from outside of Australia) or simply fill in our online assessment form.

Hi piledriver,

If you’re self employed then there are very few lenders that will accept your income. The reason is it is much easier to assess overseas PAYG income than trying to work out the income earned by a self-employed Australian expat in Singapore.

Having said that, we have a couple of options that may be able to assist depending on whether you have an accountant or not, the country you are in and the currency of your income.

You may actually be able to borrow up to 80% of the property value with one of our lenders if you can all of the following:
  • 2 years personal and business tax returns or Notices of Assessment.
  • 6 months business bank statements.
  • An accountants letter verifying your income.
You could learn more about the documents required for a mortgage.

To know more about this, you could contact one of our mortgage brokers on 300 889 743 or complete our free assessment form.

Cheers,
