First Home Owners Grant

Post by cjracey »

Me and my partner are buying a home together as first home owners. However, I have a situation which my partner is going to go overseas, so if I am the only person going to stay in the house for the 6 months. Does that satisfy the requirements for the grant?

Yes one of you must live in the property starting within the first 12 months and must live there continuously for 6 months. If the other person doesn't then this is still ok.

Hi Otto,

Thanks for the quick response.

What about holidays? So does that mean I cannot go overseas at all in that 6 months?

Cj it has to be your principal place of residence. So going for a holiday would be ok. Refer to your state government if you are not sure.
