Hi Nija,

Welcome to the forums.

You heard right! Every Australian citizen who is looking to buy their first property can receive a one-time First Home Owner Grant (FHOG). It is funded by the federal government and managed by the state government.

Please note that the first home owners grant amount will vary depending on which state you are in, if you are buying a new or established home and the purchase price of the property that you are buying.

Our first home owner calculator can help estimate your grant amount.

Please call us on 1300 889 743 or enquire online and we can help you through the process.

Cheers,
Otto

Hey Nija,

Sure! It is common for first time home buyers to apply for a grant via their lender. They act as an approved agent on behalf of the state government and will process the payment of your grant with your loan funds.

For Cooroy, you can download the first home owners grant application form from QLD First Home Owners Grant Application Form.

Please note that we try our best to keep the forms up to date however we highly recommend that you only use the provided for reference and refer to your Office of State Revenue’s website for all up to date applications.

Cheers,
Otto

Hey Nija,

You need to consider the following points while filling out the application form:
  • Use a black pen only.
  • Write clearly with block letters.
  • Include any former names or maiden names.
  • Use your legal name as stated on your birth certificate or passport.
  • If you make any mistakes, do not use white out.
  • If you are unsure of any questions, please call us to discuss, do not guess the answers!
The form must also be witnessed by someone over the age of 18 (must not be a family member). If you and your partners are applying together, you cannot sign on each other’s behalf. Also, you need to ensure that the witness has written down their name including any middle names and residential addresses.

You can download our FHOG Documents Checklist and ensure that you have met all the necessary points.

Please call us on 1300 889 743 or enquire online for a current copy of the application form for your state.

Cheers,
Otto
