Re: Does a dentist get any discount on home loans?

Hi there,

I am a dentist practicing in Sydney. I am also planning to buy a house for $650,000. I can put $170,000 as the deposit, which makes the LVR less than 80%. Therefore I would not have to pay LMI. Therefore I am more interested in the discounts on interest rates. What wil be the size of the discount that I will get?

Re: What grants can first home owners receive?

Thank you for replying, Otto! I think I've got the hang of the calculator now. But I’m still not clear about the grants. What kind of grants will I get as a first home buyer? Could you please explain it? Thanks.

What grants can first home owners receive?

Hi there,

I’m a video game designer from Adelaide. I want to buy a home and would like to take out a loan to cover the expenses of the purchase. It’s the first time that I’m buying a house so I am a bit nervous.

I heard from my friends that the government is providing special grants for first home buyers. Can anyone give me an idea of how much grant I’ll be able to receive? Thanks.

Re: How much can a doctor borrow to buy a house?

Hi everyone, I am an obstetrician and I want to take out a home loan. I want to borrow a high percentage of the property value and also have my LMI waived.

However, my friend who is a psychologist was not offered this waiver. They said that he does not fall under ‘the eligible profession’. I am worried because of that. How do I find out if my profession is eligible for such a waiver?

Re: Immigrant looking to buy a house in Australia

Thank you for the prompt response, Otto. The calculator was really helpful for me to assess my situation It seems I may be able to borrow more than $500,000 which seems great. I will contact you again once I find a suitable house to buy.

Re: Immigrant looking to buy a house in Australia

Hi Otto,

Thanks for the information. It is good to know that I may be able to borrow 80% of the property value. However, I am not sure of the amount that I can actually borrow. It would be helpful for me if I can find out how much will the banks be willing to lend to me. I would be able to start looking or a suitable property after that. Is there any way that I can get an idea on that?

Immigrant looking to buy a house in Australia

Hi home loan experts!

I have recently migrated to Australia and I want to buy a house here. I have heard that getting a mortgage in Australia is slightly different than the process in other countries. I am not sure about the provisions that may exist for an immigrant who is seeking a home loan in Australia.

I would be grateful for any information that may be relevant to me while applying for a home loan.

Re: Can I borrow without any savings?

Hi, I am also planning to buy a house. Although the guarantor loan sounds like a good option, I am not sure if it will suitable for me. My parents are close to retirement and I don’t want to burden them with my loan. What should I do? You mentioned that we can limit the size of the guarantee. How do we do that?

Re: Any offers for mining engineers and surveyors?

That’s awesome! We talked about this with our friends and they seem very interested. They wanted me to confirm which professions in our industry, other than mining engineers and surveyors, are eligible for such discounts. Can you answer this as well?

Any offers for mining engineers and surveyors?

Hello there,

I’ve been in the mining industry for more than five years. I’m a mining engineer and my best friend is a surveyor. We’ve heard that we may be able to qualify for waived LMI. Neither do we know the qualifying criteria for waived LMI, nor do we know if there are any other offers like this available to us. Can anyone help us with this?
