Re: Why are lenders changing policies for investment loans?
Hello. I am from India and I am looking to take out a mortgage to buy an investment property in Australia. As I was researching on foreign investments in Australia, I was hit with the recent policy changes implemented by a few banks on investment loans.
I would like to know what sort of effect this will have on foreign investors such as myself?

Re: Can I get a home loan if I am married to an Australian?
Hello everyone,
I am from Argentina and I had come to Australia three months back. I really liked Townsville, and there was a nice home over there. I have saved through my working life, and was planning to buy the house and move to Australia after retirement.
But I learned in this thread that foreigners are not allowed to buy an old house. Why is that so? Are there any other options available to me?

Re: Can I make extra repayments on my fixed rate home loan?
Thank you for explaining that to me. An offset account sounds like a good way to save money during my loan term. I will contact you again if I need more help with my loan application.

Can I make extra repayments on my fixed rate home loan?
Hi home loan experts!
I am a school teacher and I live in Perth with my family. I want to buy a new home for around $600,000.
I had got a five year fixed home loan for my current home. But only later I found out that I wasn’t able to make extra repayments on my home loan! I wanted to save on the interest I paid, but they had some extra costs when I made repayments that actually made me worse-off with the extra repayments.
So is there any way that I can get a fixed rate loan (again!), but also be able to make extra repayments on that? I would be grateful if someone gave me more information on this.

How much loan can I get if I am married to an Australian?
Hi there,
I am a Chinese national but I had been living in Australia for on a student visa for 2 years, before switching to a partner visa. I married a permanent resident 18 months back and we are expecting a baby in 3 months.
Now that there is going to be a new member in the family, we want to buy a bigger place of our own. We are looking at a house in Tasmania which is worth $730,000. But we only have about $150,000 in savings. Since we are expecting a child soon, we would like to have some savings on standby in case of emergencies.
Therefore, we would like to borrow as much as possible for our house. How much will we be able to borrow to buy the house?

Hey I also need to do a bit of renovation on the house I am planning to buy. I was reading through your previous replies and I wanted to know more about the guarantor loan. How does this loan actually work?

Re: How does the construction process work?
Hello!
I’ve been thinking of taking out a construction loan in order to finance the purchase of a vacant land as well as the construction of a house in it. While looking through a few things, I learnt that I can ask my bank to pay my builder for the completed portions of work. Can anyone tell me how I may be able to get this done?

Hmm…going by the criteria, there does seem to be some hope for me. By the way what do you mean by LVR and why does it matter?
