Re: What interest rates am I eligible for on a home loan?
Hi,
I’m from Rockhampton. I work as a survey technician and earn $45,000 per year. I have a savings account with $80,000 and want to buy a home. I want to borrow 85% to 90% of the value of the house. I’ve recently come to know that I will need to pay LMI. However, I don’t want to pay it.
Is there a way I can avoid paying LMI? Are there any discounts that I can find for LMIs if I cannot waive it completely?

Re: How to get a loan to buy an investment property?
Hi there, like Hugo, I too want to buy a property for investment purpose. You mentioned that we need to have 5% to 10% in genuine savings to qualify for an investment loan. Can you tell me what exactly you mean by genuine savings?

Hey I too am an Aussie working overseas and just like lukeparsons, I am also planning to buy a house in NSW. My parents live in the same state. So I was wondering how banks assess foreign income. Would appreciate if you could clear my confusions.

Re: What will my home loan repayments be?
Hi Otto,
I checked out the calculator and I found that the repayments are significantly lower if I choose the interest only option. I have limited knowledge on loans, and I do not know the difference the type of repayment will have on my loan. Could you tell me a bit more about this?

What will my home loan repayments be?
Hi there,
I finished my college two years ago and I have been working for a private company in Canberra as an advertising coordinator. My annual salary is $43,000 and I have been spending a large portion of my income on paying rent.
So I was thinking about buying my own place. I think I will do that soon if the mortgage repayment is not significantly higher than the rent I have been paying. I am renting at $320 per week, but I do not know what my periodic loan repayments will be. I am planning on buying a house worth about $500,000.
Could anyone give me an estimate of my loan repayments?

Re: Can engineers have their LMI waived?
Hey, I am an engineer myself as well and I was hoping to borrow more than 90%. So if I do pay the LMI fee, how much would this amount to? Can you also tell me how does LMI thing actually work? I mean do I need to pay before the loan is advanced or afterwards?

Ohhh…okay. That’s a relief! I guess I should have a talk with my parents and see if this is possible. Thanks Otto!
